South Florida Banking Institute
Banking Technology and Remote Deposit Capture

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Remote Deposit Capture is a hot topic in the banking industry, and guest speakers Brad Smith from Abound Resources and Ellen Heffner from ECCHO (Electronic Check Clearing House Organization) had the assignment of breaking down the “do’s and don’t” of this new technology. They are flanked by Diebold’s Dave Wilson on the left, and SFBi President Dominic Suszek.

Don’t let appearances fool you – even though SFBi Director Alex Sueiro ate dinner alone, that’s only because many more bankers attended the event than expected, and by choice, Alex used the time to update the registration list on his laptop.
SFBi Directors Carl Gallo, left, and Alex Sueiro, right,  were recipients of the first monthly Presidential Appreciation Award, presented by President Dominic Suszek.

Harold Coombs, from MetroBank, was the lucky winner of $50.00 from the SFBi as part of an incentive program to fill out the monthly survey that follows each SFBi event – you could be the next lucky winner…but you can’t win unless you fill out the survey!
Dave Wilson and Carlos Rodriguez from Diebold-Image Way, were co-sponsors for the evening. Diebold-Image Way has already installed many Remote Deposit Capture systems for their banking clients throughout the country.

This is part of the old MegaBank clan from about 15 years ago…they’ve all moved on to greener pastures and continue to be successful in the banking industry – Anthony Noboa is now with Coconut grove Bank and is an SFBi Director, while Jose Martin and Pamela Wendel are both with MetroBank. Pam is also a Past President of the SFBi.

Sonia Canessa-Gonzelez, SFBi Director from First Bank of Miami, and SFBi President Dominic Suszek posed for the other co-sponsor for the evening, FiSERV, a prominent, national, core-processing company.

“Tha-tha-tha-that’s all folks”, as Carlos Rodriguez waves good-bye at the end of yet another well-attended event.
